"The works of Tang Ying Chi are somewhat like manuscripts. She often uses plain lines, just like that of an autograph, to 'write' abstract quite simple, but complex variations can be seen everywhere. Stillness remains as a feature of Tang's paintings, nevertheless, a maximun control over colour use is maintained so that fine lines are able to keep their vitality. Layers of strokes covering one another create a complex spacial relationship, and simple images that appear occasionally add tension to the paintings. On the whole, Tang is mature in the handling of formal elements."
